Version 2 of Myself

I wish to write about my version 2 and how it has changed various facets in my life.

Thinking and not doing

I have become more disciplined and life now feels as if I am in a state of harmonious flow. In retrospect, I feel now that working in tandem is way easier than speculating or thinking about what needs to get done. Thinking is a big energy drainer and our mind should be attuned to thinking about what is relevant etc. because most times we are thinking about things which are not really relevant and thinking sometimes is really fatal to our growth.

Exercise Regimen

For this change I am indebted to reading the book ‘ Miracle Morning’ by Hal Elrod. The very idea of waking up early enthuses you to take life head on. I inherited this culture of exercising in the morning based on the ‘E’ that Hal mentions in SAVERS. The other rituals mentioned as part of the acronym SAVERS are also helpful but sticking to the exercise regimen has really helped me experience a new high in my life. As the famous line from Jim Kwik goes — As your body moves, your mind grooves, this is apt in describing how an exercise regimen not only makes you fitter in body but also in your mind. It is now easier to plan my day when I have exercised in the morning. The mind is more clearer and hence a highly prioritized day.

Morning Pages

I really feel lucky to have discovered this technique and how it helps me as a writer and also otherwise. It was a technique propagated by Julia Cameron, where the idea is to grab a notebook first thing in the morning or as soon as you wake up and write down thoughts which come to you as a first stream of consciousness. Some people call it brain dump but I have also seen it evolve over time. There is a life cycle to morning pages and it helps you feel more calmer and also more creative in the long run. I attribute a lot of my thinking getting more refined and focused owing to the religious practice of morning pages each morning.

Meditation as a way of life

I feel a lot more in control of my life with my practice of meditation. It has not only helped me stay more focused but I can learn newer concepts with much more ease. It has helped me declutter my mind and now my mind works as a charm. I also believe that meditation should not only be isolated to your daily sitting but should also be used as an embodiment. When you start applying the dynamic of meditation in your daily life events then it becomes more energizing and thus more relevant. For what is the whole point of sitting if it can not be applied in every facet of your life.

P.S. This Version 2 assignment is part of an exercise for the Digital Marketing Internship Batch 7 with Digital Deepak.
